Wes Gordon Presents Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2026 Collection in Madrid
Carolina Herrera is expanding its horizons with a remarkable presentation of its Spring 2026 collection in Madrid. Wes Gordon, the brand’s creative director, expressed his enthusiasm for the city, stating, “Madrid has always been one of my favourite cities in the world. Every time you visit Madrid you get a full recharge of inspiration.”
A Trend in Travel Resort Shows
Travel resort shows have gained traction among major fashion labels, particularly in Europe. This latest show marks a continuation of Gordon’s innovative approach, as previous collections have been showcased in different international locales. Notably, the Resort 2024 collection was unveiled in Rio de Janeiro, and the Resort 2025 collection featured a collaboration with local artisans in Mexico City, integrating traditional crafts such as embroidery and pottery into the designs.
A Rich History with Madrid
The connection between Gordon, Herrera, and Madrid runs deep. In 2023, the brand was a sponsor of the Maestras or Women Masters Show at the Thyssen Museum, celebrating the works of renowned artists including Artemisia Gentileschi, Mary Cassatt, and Sonia Delaunay. Additionally, Gordon is actively involved with Vogue España’s Fashion Fund program, promoting emerging talent in the fashion industry.
Looking Forward: A Strategic Vision
Despite plans to return to the New York fashion scene in 2026, the decision to hold the Spring 2026 show in Madrid underscores a strategic and innovative shift for the brand. Emily Rubinfeld, CEO of Carolina Herrera, emphasized the importance of exploration and risk-taking in fashion, stating, “At Herrera, we always like to chart our courses. We are always open to exploring new paths. And if you do the same thing and don’t take risks, you know you’re stagnant.” This philosophy has evidently benefitted the brand.
Innovation Within Tradition
Gordon further remarked on the unique juxtaposition of history and modernity in Madrid, stating, “Madrid is a city shaped by history, but it’s never stuck. The way the past coexists with the present is fascinating. Bringing Carolina Herrera here is like continuing a shared conversation without feeling like a decision.” This perspective reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to both legacy and contemporary relevance.
