Fashion Forward: Highlights from the Resort 2026 Showcase
A Day of Inspiration
Despite forecasts predicting rain, the Resort 2026 Show commenced brightly on Wednesday morning at the innovative Barangaroo Pier. This new communal space, overlooking a serene blue harbor dotted with fluffy white clouds, provided an uplifting backdrop for the event.
Nature-Inspired Collection
Designers Edwena Forest and Adrian Norris presented an evocative collection that echoed the beauty of the natural world. “We often looked to nature and were captivated by how they captured the mood and light. So there’s a lot of transparency and opacity in the collection,” Forest explained, emphasizing the synthesis of fluidity and form in their designs.
Showcase of Innovation and Texture
The lineup featured a diverse array of textures and volumes, including:
- A striking “feather boa” fashioned from chiffon petals.
- An 80’s-inspired strapless sequin party dress adorned with a balloon hem.
- Classic romantic gowns crafted from delicate Broderie Anglaise.
- A playful sunshine skirt accentuated with raffia fringes that created delightful sounds as models moved.
- Structured pieces such as a gown with gold buttons, acid-washed shorts, a moto jacket, and a tailored suit with a dark wash.
- A mini-shift dress featuring whimsical postcard prints.
This eclectic variety uniquely maintained the essence of the brand, blending traditional silhouettes with contemporary flair.
Reflecting on the Journey
With 17 years of experience under their belts, the designers reflected on their creative evolution throughout the years. While the setting was breathtaking and crystal-clear for attendees, one intriguing detail shared by the designers was that the collection was inspired by the full moon just nights prior. Forest noted, “It was impossible not to think that the stones had something to do with the morning sun,” linking their artistic inspiration to the natural rhythms of the world.
