After nearly two decades of drumming for one of rock’s most iconic bands, Frank Ferrer has officially parted ways with Guns N’ Roses. The veteran drummer, who joined the group in 2006, bid farewell to the band in what they describe as an “amicable exit.”
In a statement released on March 19, 2025, Guns N’ Roses expressed their gratitude for Ferrer’s contribution over the past 19 years. The band thanked him for his “friendship, creativity, and sturdy presence,” adding that they wished him “success in the next chapter of his musical journey.” Ferrer’s final performance with the band occurred in November 2023 during a concert in Mexico. His departure marks the end of an era, as he held the position of the longest-serving drummer in the band’s 40-year history.
Although Ferrer is stepping away, the band has already found a replacement in Isaac Carpenter. Carpenter, known for his work with artists such as Adam Lambert, Awolnation, and Black Lab, will take over percussion duties. The new drummer is set to join the band for their upcoming tour, which will include stops across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, starting in May 2025.
In their statement, Guns N’ Roses praised Carpenter’s ability to blend technical skill with versatility, highlighting his reputation as a “multifaceted drummer in the industry.”
The current lineup of Guns N’ Roses, which includes lead vocalist Axl Rose and guitarist Slash, continues to tour despite the departure of Ferrer. Slash, who left the band in 1996 amidst tensions with Rose, rejoined in 2016 after the two reconciled. The pair has since spoken about their improved relationship, with Slash stating in a 2023 interview that their reunion was a “huge weight lifted off our shoulders.”
Guns N’ Roses has seen its share of lineup changes over the years, but the band’s enduring success continues to captivate fans worldwide. With the addition of Isaac Carpenter, the band is set to carry forward its legacy of powerful performances and classic rock anthems.
