Janelle Brown Reflects on Grief Following Son’s Death
Returning to Flagstaff brings mixed emotions for Janelle Brown.
A Journey of Grieving
On May 5, Janelle Brown, 56, shared her emotional return to Flagstaff, Arizona, following the tragic loss of her son, Garrison, who died in March 2024. In a heartfelt social media post showcasing a tender black-and-white photo of them together, Janelle opened up about her grief and the healing process she has been navigating since the tragedy.
Acceptance and Reflection
“In the end, it took me a while to accept the fact that we did everything we could,” Janelle wrote in her post. She reflected on the painful reality of loss, stating, “All the evidence can convince anyone that there is no hope if not.”
During her visit to Flagstaff, Janelle observed reminders of Garrison at every turn, emphasizing how different this new chapter of her life feels without him. She expressed gratitude for the support she has received from family, attributing her strength to her faith. “Because of my faith, I know that one day I will be reunited with Garrison, and that promise will bring great comfort to me,” she concluded.
A Community in Mourning
Recent episodes of “Sister Wives” have spotlighted the family’s ongoing grief, particularly highlighting Garrison’s death by suicide, discovered by his younger brother Gabriel in their Flagstaff home. The show has facilitated candid conversations about mental health within the family.
Janelle shared that her children are becoming more open about discussing their feelings regarding mental health. “It’s okay,” she reassured, pointing to the importance of these conversations in their healing process.
Moving Forward Together
As Janelle prepares to close Garrison’s Flagstaff residence, she and her sister Carrie discussed the emotional weight of this task. Carrie suggested they focus on “closing that chapter” as Janelle navigates this significant life change.
Amidst the sadness, Janelle also noted that being in North Carolina has provided her a sense of comfort during this difficult time. “Sometimes, it certainly catches you in a more raw moment,” she admitted, but expressed gratitude for being where she is now.
