Jesy Nelson, former member of Little Mix, has opened up about her challenging pregnancy as she navigates life-threatening complications while expecting identical twins with her partner, Zion Foster. In an emotional update shared via Instagram on March 5, Jesy spoke candidly about the health risks that come with carrying Monochorionic Diamniotic Twins.
“Unfortunately, there are complications that come with having identical twins,” Jesy explained in the video, which she filmed with Zion. She further revealed that her pregnancy involves a serious condition called Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS), which affects identical twins who share a single placenta. This condition causes unequal blood flow between the fetuses, leading to potentially fatal outcomes if left untreated.
Jesy shared the heartbreaking possibility that one of the twins could take all the nutrients from the shared placenta, a scenario that could result in the death of both babies. “It can lead to tons of complications,” Jesy said. “One baby might take all of the nutrients, which, really awful to say, could lead to both babies dying.”
Since discovering the condition, Jesy has been receiving close monitoring, undergoing scans twice a week. Unfortunately, each scan has revealed that her condition has worsened over time. Despite these challenges, Jesy remains hopeful, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to closely monitor the babies’ health. “We’re just hoping and praying for the best,” she said. “We feel so blessed that we’ve been given twins, but it’s just really sad that, unfortunately, it does come with its complications, which we had no idea about.”
Jesy, who left Little Mix in 2020 after a successful nine-year run with the band, emphasized the importance of sharing her pregnancy journey with her followers. “We feel it’s really important to share our journey with you guys and let you know what’s happening,” she stated. “We’re really fortunate that I am lucky enough to be scanned twice a week and we get to check on the babies.”
Reflecting on the unexpected news of her twin pregnancy, Jesy shared how both she and Zion were initially shocked but ultimately filled with joy when they found out. “When I found out we were having twins, Zion and me were super shocked,” Jesy recalled on her Instagram Story in January. “It wasn’t planned, but I instantly felt happy as soon as I saw that I was.”
As Jesy continues to face these health challenges, she remains positive and grateful for the support from her partner, family, and fans. Her openness about her pregnancy journey is a reminder of the unpredictability of life and the strength required to navigate such difficult circumstances.
