In a recent episode of Tori Spelling’s podcast, Kristen Doute, the 42-year-old star from Vanderpump Rules, shared intriguing details about her engagement to Luke Broderick, which took place in Hawaii.

Doute recounted her experience saying, “What I hate is that it’s first in the trailer, and the first thing I say is, ‘Oh, f—,'” expressing surprise at the unconventional nature of the proposal.

Engagement Surprise

Doute revealed that Broderick proposed while they were filming the second season of their series, officially announcing their engagement in September. Pictures from the proposal, which took place on a fishing boat, were later shared on social media.

Reflecting on the day, Doute humorously noted, “We were on a fishing boat, so in my mind it doesn’t seem like I’m wearing makeup,” illustrating her casual mindset during the special moment.

Discovery of the Ring

Despite her reputation for being observant, Doute admitted she was completely unaware of Broderick’s plans. “Everyone calls me Detective Doute, so it blows my mind. Why didn’t I see this?” she said. Doute recounted a moment when Broderick discreetly carried the engagement ring without her noticing.

She humorously added, “I ripped all the bags looking for these and he had a ring in his pocket, but I never saw the box”—further illustrating the surprise she experienced.

The Couple’s Journey

Doute and Broderick met in June 2022 at a friend’s wedding. They began their relationship shortly thereafter, announcing it publicly in December 2022 during a podcast conversation. In an exciting turn of events, Doute confirmed they are expecting their first child together—a baby girl—expected to arrive in the summer of the following year.
