Noah Cyrus embraces her family’s musical roots with the emotionally resonant release of her second studio album, I Want My Loved Ones to Go with Me, which dropped on July 11, 2025, coinciding with what would have been her grandfather Ron “Pappy” Cyrus’s birthday . In an intimate Instagram tribute, she honored her late grandfather, who passed away in 2006, expressing heartfelt gratitude that this release aligns with his birthday and hoping he’s celebrating “up in heaven with all of our loved ones who left too soon”. The album’s title is inspired by a hymn written by her great-grandfather Eldon Lindsey Cyrus and previously performed by Pappy, featured prominently in the poignant track “Apple Tree,” which includes his recorded voice reflecting on childhood memories.
The album, an 11-track journey born from collaboration with co-producers Mike Crossey and PJ Harding, weaves together influences from Americana, indie folk, and country. It showcases contributions from Fleet Foxes, Ella Langley, Blake Shelton, and Bill Callahan. Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold brings his distinct style to “Don’t Put It All on Me,” released in March, while “New Country,” launched in June, sees Shelton joining Cyrus in a pedal-steel–laden duet. The closing track “XXX” offers a haunting collaboration with Bill Callahan, whose deep vocals blend seamlessly with Cyrus’s expressive tone. Additionally, her father Billy Ray Cyrus’s songwriting influence shines on “With You,” the very first song he ever penned, underscoring the album’s deeply personal and familial essence.
Cyrus previously described the project as a statement of self-identity and growth, stating, “For a long time, I couldn’t really trust in my own choices… I’ve found who I am… this record shows what I had inside me all this time,” and aiming to evoke “comforting, peaceful nostalgia” that invites listeners to heal and reconnect with their past.
To mark the album’s launch, Cyrus performed at The Ford in Los Angeles on July 11, then unveiled plans for a North American tour running from July through October, hitting major cities such as San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, and Phoenix. The tour kicks off on July 11 in L.A., with headline dates beginning in Santa Ana on September 12 .
With its blend of folk-tinged storytelling, heartfelt tributes, and personal legacy, I Want My Loved Ones to Go with Me marks a significant chapter in Cyrus’s evolution. The album is available now across all major streaming platforms.
