Coltrane Lemons

Brooklyn-based photographer Coltrane Lemons, originally from South Philadelphia, has taken an innovative approach to masculinity and black identity through his lens. By cultivating a distinctive visual language, he emphasizes themes of community and belonging.

In his notable project Glitterboy (2017), Lemons experimented with glitter as a medium to celebrate black men, creating spectacular imagery that challenged traditional representations. The following year, he focused on family dynamics in a series of portraits that humanized and dignified black families.

In 2021, he made history by becoming the youngest photographer to produce lead images for Vanity Fair, capturing high-profile personalities including Spike Lee, Billie Eilish, and Zendaya. Recently, in 2023, Lemons expanded his creative repertoire by launching the Sky High Farm Workwear collection, blending fashion photography with issues surrounding identity and aspirations.
