On June 9, 2025, Doyoung of NCT unveiled his second solo album, Soar, marking a significant milestone in his musical journey. The album, comprising ten tracks, showcases Doyoung’s vocal versatility and artistic growth, blending genres like rock, pop, and ballad to create a resonant listening experience.
The lead single, “Memory” (안녕, 우주), stands out as a rock-infused track that encapsulates the desire to preserve shared moments as lasting memories. Doyoung’s powerful vocals, combined with emotive guitar riffs, evoke a sense of nostalgia and longing, setting the tone for the album’s introspective themes. Other notable tracks include “Eternity” (미래에서 기다릴게), an alternative rock piece exploring themes of hope and reunion, and “Just Friends” (편한 사람), a delicate ballad delving into the complexities of unrequited love. Collaborations with prominent figures in Korea’s rock scene, such as Yoon Do-hyun of YB and Kim Yuna of Jaurim, add depth and diversity to the album’s soundscape.
In a press roundtable held on June 8, Doyoung shared his vision for Soar, emphasizing his desire to create music that resonates with listeners on a personal level. “I hope this album can be a source of comfort and inspiration for those pursuing their dreams,” he stated, highlighting the album’s overarching theme of empowerment and growth.
The release of Soar comes ahead of Doyoung’s impending mandatory military service, adding a layer of poignancy to the album. He expressed hope that his music would continue to connect with fans during his absence, stating, “I want my songs to be a source of strength and solace, even when I’m not around.”
To promote the album, Doyoung is set to embark on his second solo concert tour, “2025 Doyoung Concert [Doors],” beginning with performances at Seoul’s Jamsil Indoor Stadium from June 13 to 15. The tour will extend to various Asian cities, including Yokohama, Singapore, Macau, Kobe, Bangkok, and Taipei, offering fans an opportunity to experience his new music live.
Soar is available across major streaming platforms, including Melon, Apple Music, Spotify, and QQ Music, and has been released in three physical versions: “Crack of Dawn,” “Be My Light,” and “Imprinted Memory.” The album’s diverse musical styles and heartfelt lyrics have garnered acclaim from critics and fans alike, solidifying Doyoung’s status as a prominent solo artist in the K-pop industry.
As Doyoung prepares for his military service, Soar serves as both a culmination of his artistic endeavors thus far and a heartfelt message to his fans, encapsulating his journey and aspirations through music.
