BLACKPINK’s Jennie Kim was forced to leave the stage mid-performance during the group’s June 11 concert in Melbourne due to health concerns. The unexpected incident occurred as the K-pop star appeared to be struggling with her condition, leading her to exit the stage with the assistance of security.
Video footage shared by fans on social media showed Jennie being escorted off the stage, visibly distressed. Earlier during the concert, she could be seen holding onto the side of the stage, breathing deeply in an apparent effort to regain her composure. The fans’ concern grew as she left the stage before the show concluded.
Following the performance, YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s management company, issued a statement explaining Jennie’s abrupt exit. They confirmed that her condition had deteriorated during the concert, and despite her determination to continue, medical advice led to the decision to prioritize her well-being. The statement read, “JENNIE expressed her strong determination to carry on with the performance until the end. However, following medical advice on site, we immediately took measures to ensure she receives ample rest and stability.”
The statement also assured fans that Jennie regretted not being able to complete the show but emphasized her commitment to recovery. “JENNIE has conveyed her regrets for not being able to stay with the fans until the end, and assures that she will recover as soon as possible,” the company noted.
Fans quickly took to social media to express their support for Jennie. Many applauded her courage for performing despite feeling unwell, with one fan tweeting, “She’s so brave still stepping up on stage despite being so sick. Please recover well Jennie.” Another shared, “The fact she still went out on stage even though she was feeling really sick just shows how much she cares about her fans. We love you Jennie; please take all the rest you need.”
BLACKPINK is currently on their BORN PINK world tour, which has seen them perform across multiple countries, and their next scheduled stops are in Sydney for two shows at Qudos Bank Arena. This marks a significant moment in Jennie’s career as the same night, she made her debut in HBO’s The Idol. Jennie stars as Dyanne, a backup dancer for Lily-Rose Depp’s character Jocelyn, showcasing her talent in both music and acting.
Reflecting on her experience filming The Idol, Jennie shared, “It was amazing working with Lily-Rose, who I’ve known for a long time. I’m so lucky to have had the chance to collaborate with her.” The star, whose presence in both music and television is rapidly growing, was clearly excited about this new venture, which adds another layer to her already impressive career.
As Jennie focuses on her health and recovery, fans remain hopeful for her quick return to the stage. The support from her followers is a testament to the deep bond she shares with her audience, as they eagerly await her full recovery.
