Recent Podcast Insights
In the latest episode of the Monica & Amir Podcast Vault aired on April 28, Jodie Sweetin opened up about her differing perspectives with her former co-stars, including Candace Cameron Bure, particularly on social issues. Sweetin emphasized, “She posted her perspective, I posted mine. We were always very different about those things.”
Historical Backlash and Public Sentiment
Sweetin referenced the backlash faced by Bure in 2022 after she indicated that the Great American Family Network, where Bure served as Chief Creative Officer, would prioritize narratives centered on “traditional marriages” over those featuring same-sex couples.
Support for the LGBTQ+ Community
Amidst the controversies, Sweetin expressed her support for the LGBTQ+ community, especially after her independent projects were obtained by the Great American Family Network. She remarked, “As actors, we don’t have control over which networks are buying the projects we are in.” Furthermore, she pledged that any proceeds from this sale would be donated to LGBTQ+ organizations.
The Current State of Their Relationship
Reflecting on their long-standing relationship, Sweetin noted, “Candice and I – we live a very different lifestyle. We exist in a very different world, but she is someone I know since I was five.” Despite Bure’s absence on social media concerning their dynamic, Sweetin stated, “I don’t live my life based on social media,” adding that she recognizes both the positive and negative aspects of it.
Olympics Commentary and Misunderstandings
During the podcast, Sweetin also touched upon recent discussions surrounding the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she perceived a misalignment between fans’ reactions and Bure’s criticisms of the event’s Christian undertones. “To be honest, I wasn’t talking about her either,” Sweetin clarified. “I saw the Olympics. I was like, all these people were crazy about it. And I was like, ‘What?’”
