Travis Hunter Opens Up About Fiancée’s Emotional Struggles Following Public Criticism
After winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy, Travis Hunter has found himself in the spotlight not only for his achievements but also for the viral backlash directed at his fiancée, Leanna Lenee. The incident occurred during the Heisman Trophy ceremony on December 14, when a video surfaced showing Lenee appearing visibly upset while Hunter took photos with fans.
Social media quickly criticized her behavior, with many questioning the couple’s relationship. Hunter addressed the backlash during a live Twitch stream on December 15, revealing the emotional toll the incident had on Lenee.
“She’s still sleeping,” Hunter shared with his viewers, explaining that Lenee had cried herself to sleep after drinking heavily to cope with the negativity. “It’s hard on me because I can’t even help her.”
Hunter also spoke about how the public’s vitriol hurt him as well, emphasizing that he and Lenee are inseparable, and if she is hurting, so is he.
Hunter Defends Lenee and Calls Out Critics
During the stream, Hunter passionately defended Lenee, urging critics to stop attacking her and reflect on their own lives. “You ain’t never had no girl, so why y’all talking ‘bout me?” he said. “Find something else to talk about. You’re talking about my girl? Go talk about your girl.”
Hunter also encouraged his followers to send positive messages to Lenee, hoping to counteract the negativity and provide her with some support when she woke up. “I would rather all y’all leave right now and go send her text messages so when she wakes up in the morning, she gets on her phone [and it’s] nothing but positivity,” he said.
Despite the backlash, Hunter and Lenee’s relationship remains strong, and the couple continues to support one another through the challenges they face in the public eye.
