Zach’s COVID-19 Setback Shakes Up The Bachelor
This week’s episode of The Bachelor took an unexpected turn when Zach Shallcross tested positive for COVID-19, forcing him to isolate in his hotel room and cancel plans with the women. The episode, which featured the cast’s trip to London, was supposed to be a pivotal moment for Zach’s relationships with the women, but the virus threw a wrench in the plans.
Zach had already spent a romantic day with Gabi Elnicki, who was treated to a one-on-one date in London and received a rose from Zach. However, the rest of the women were left disappointed when Zach’s illness caused him to cancel the planned group date. While they still enjoyed some sightseeing in London, many of the women were upset by the lost opportunity for quality time with Zach.
A Virtual Cocktail Party and Rose Ceremony
By the evening, it was clear that Zach wasn’t well enough to join the nighttime portion of the group date. The women, especially those who hadn’t had a one-on-one date, like Greer Blitzer and Mercedes Northup, were frustrated by the setback. The next morning, Jesse Palmer informed the women that Zach had tested positive for COVID, which meant that Charity Lawson’s one-on-one date was also canceled.
Although Zach was devastated by the situation, Kaity Biggar, who had already formed a strong connection with him, took the initiative to visit his hotel room with a thoughtful get-well basket. Zach appreciated her gesture, and they shared a heartfelt moment even though they couldn’t be together in person.
Since Zach still needed to quarantine, he opted for a virtual cocktail party and rose ceremony, which was a unique twist. All of the women had the chance for a brief virtual interaction with Zach, but the experience wasn’t without its challenges. Greer, who had been one of the early frontrunners, took the opportunity to relate to Zach’s frustration with the situation, but her comments inadvertently caused some tension.
Greer’s Misstep and Emotional Breakdown
During her FaceTime chat with Zach, Greer shared that she had also dealt with COVID during a busy time at work, comparing it to Zach’s frustration. However, Zach was taken aback by the comparison, feeling that her situation was different from his, as he was dealing with a significant moment in his life, not just a work deadline.
“I think it’s completely different, from my perspective,” Zach told her, explaining that his journey to find his future wife meant much more to him than the end of a sales quarter. Greer seemed to understand his perspective, but the conversation left her upset. Afterward, she broke down in tears, worried that her message hadn’t come across the way she intended.
Despite her concerns, Greer ultimately received a rose during the ceremony, while Kylee Russell and Mercedes Northup were eliminated.
A Challenging Week for Zach and the Contestants
While Zach and the women tried to make the best of a difficult situation, the week’s events undoubtedly created some tension and uncertainty. As the number of women dwindles, the pressure to connect with Zach only increases, and the cancellation of important dates left several contestants feeling uneasy about their chances.
Now, with only nine women remaining, the stakes are higher than ever. The upcoming weeks will likely bring more challenges, but also more opportunities for the women to bond with Zach as he continues his search for his future wife.
Stay tuned as The Bachelor heads into its next phase, with the season finale just around the corner!
