The Delay in Ali’s Licensing Process
Ali Harper, a prominent figure on Selling the OC, is still in the process of acquiring her real estate license, much to the surprise of some fans. The 31-year-old star, who joined the show in its second season, revealed that the process has taken much longer than expected.
Ahead of the premiere of season 3, Ali opened up about the delay, stating, “So, we are still in the process. It’s actually taken quite a long time to get approved to take the actual exam. It’s just kind of been out of my hands.” Despite her active role on the Netflix reality series, Ali is yet to officially become a licensed realtor, although she has demonstrated a keen interest in the luxury real estate market.
Ali’s Journey to Real Estate
Ali first made her debut on Selling the OC in September 2023, after moving to Orange County from Nashville with her long-term boyfriend. The couple got engaged in March 2024, but before that, Ali had already immersed herself in the world of real estate. Her journey began when she met Selling the OC co-star Polly Brindle during an open house event, which led to an informational meeting with Jason Oppenheim, co-founder of the Oppenheim Group.
In season 2, Ali shared her aspirations to enter the real estate industry, emphasizing her love for interacting with people. By the season finale, she expressed her intent to get licensed and join the Oppenheim Group, which could eventually allow her to represent buyers and sellers in California’s luxury market.
Independent Contractor Status at the Oppenheim Group
However, it’s important to note that, while Ali is interested in working with the Oppenheim Group, she would not be a full-time employee. Jason Oppenheim previously clarified that all Selling the OC cast members are independent contractors rather than employees. He also mentioned that his priority is ensuring that everyone—whether they work at the O Group or elsewhere—pursues what’s best for them both personally and professionally.
Fans Follow Ali’s Progress in Season 3
While Ali works on securing her real estate credentials, fans have been following her progress in season 3. Viewers have seen her participate in office meetings, attend open houses, and put in the required hours to complete the necessary steps to become licensed.
Selling the OC season 3 is currently streaming on Netflix, and fans will continue to see Ali’s journey unfold on the show. It seems like Ali’s passion for the luxury real estate market is only growing, and it’s only a matter of time before she can officially take her place in this competitive field.
