Three members of the globally popular K-pop group Stray Kids—Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin—are currently recovering after a minor car accident on September 20. The accident occurred while the trio were returning to their dorms, and though they sustained mild injuries, they are expected to make a full recovery.
According to JYP Entertainment, the group’s agency, the members suffered from “mild muscle pains and bruises.” Following the accident, they were immediately taken to a local hospital for thorough medical checks. Fortunately, none of the members or their accompanying staff were seriously injured in the collision.
Medical professionals have recommended that Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Seungmin receive conservative treatment for the time being. As a result, Lee Know and Hyunjin will not be attending Milan Fashion Week as planned, and Seungmin’s upcoming birthday livestream on September 22 has been canceled. Furthermore, Stray Kids will be absent from the Global Citizen Festival in New York City on September 23. Instead, the group’s hip-hop unit, 3Racha—composed of Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han—will take their place, performing under their stage names CB97, SpearB, and J.One.
The agency emphasized that the health of the artists is their top priority and promised to provide full support to ensure their swift recovery.
The accident comes at a particularly busy time for Stray Kids. Just last week, the group made a memorable appearance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. During the ceremony, they not only performed their chart-topping hit “S-CLASS” but also took home the prestigious Moon Person for Best K-Pop, marking a significant achievement in their career.
“We’ve been making music ever since the start of our careers,” Bang Chan said during their acceptance speech. “To receive this award means a lot to us.” Felix added, “We want to thank our fans, STAYs, for being so supportive. We have so much more to show you all, so please look forward to the future.”
While the Stray Kids members take the necessary time to recover, their fans—referred to as STAYs—are showing an outpouring of support, eager to see their idols back to full health and back on stage soon.
